The hybrid work model — adopted by countless organizations after the pandemic as a compromise for employees who seek the flexibility of working from home and leaders who realize the benefits of bringing people together — continues to have its challenges. To this day, team members are coming into nearly empty offices, attending the same virtual meetings they could have joined from home. A better approach might be something we’re calling the Patchwork Principle, which aims to maximize a low overall dosage of mandatory in-office time while giving everyone a sense of control and feelings of fairness.
